SF6 Circuit Breaker

The use of sulfur hexafluoride as an arc extinguishing medium in SF6 vacuum circuit breakers began in the early 1950s. In the 1960s and 1970s, SF6 circuit breakers were widely used in ultra-high voltage and large capacity power systems. In the early 1980s, SF6 vacuum circuit breakers with 363 kV single break, 550 kV double break, and rated breaking currents of 80 and 100 kA were successfully developed. working principle The working principle of sulfur hexafluoride SF6 vacuum circuit breaker mainly includes opening and closing operations: Opening operation: The inner crank arm of the support is controlled by a spring operating mechanism to pull the insulation rod, causing the nozzle to move downwards and generating an arc through the separation of the main contact and the static contact. The arc combustion generates high temperature, forming high-pressure gas, which flows into the pressure cylinder to increase its internal pressure. The high-pressure gas is ejected from the throat of the passive arc contact, extinguishing the arc and achieving the purpose of short circuiting. Closing operation: The inner crank arm of the support is controlled by a spring operating mechanism to pull the insulation rod, causing the nozzle to rise and sulfur hexafluoride gas to enter the pressure cylinder, waiting for the next opening operation. Structural composition The sulfur hexafluoride SF6 vacuum circuit breaker mainly consists of the following six parts: Conductive part: responsible for the conduction of current. Arc extinguishing device: using SF6 gas to extinguish the arc. Insulation section: Provide electrical insulation. Accessory connection device: connection of auxiliary equipment. Electrical control and operation structure: Control the operation of circuit breakers. Application scenarios Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 vacuum circuit breakers are mainly used in voltage levels above 110kV, and are widely used in ultra-high voltage and large capacity power systems due to their excellent insulation and arc extinguishing characteristics.
