Drop type fuses and load drop type fuses are outdoor high-voltage protective devices.It is instaled on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or distribution line branches,used as short-crcuit and overload protection for transformers and lines,as wellas for breaking and closing load currents.The drop type fuse consists of an insulation bracket and a fuse tube.The static contacts are installed at both ends of the insulation bracket,and the dynamic contacts are instlled at both ends of the fuse tube.The fuse tube is composed of an iner arc exinguishing tube and an outer phenolic paper tube or epoxy glasscoth tube.The load drop type fuse enhances the elastic auxiliary contact and arcextinguishing coverto separateand close the load current.
During normal operation of a drop type fuse,the fuse tube forms a closed position bytensioning the fuse.When a system malfunction occurs,the faultcurent causes thefuseto quicky melt,forming an arc extinguishing tube that is heated by the arc and decomposes into a large amount of gas,creating high pressure inside the tube and blowing longitudinaly along thepipeline.The arc is quickly stretched and extinguished.After the fuse melts,the lower moving contact loses tension and fipsdown,locking the mechanism and releasing the fuse tube,causing the fuse tubeto fall and form a clear open position.When it is necessary to pullthe load,use an insulating rod to pul the moving contact.At this time,the active and static auxiiary contacts are stilin contact.Continue touse the insulating rod to pul the contact,and the auxiary contacts are also separated.An arc is generated between the auxiiary contacts,which is elongated in the narow gap of the exinguishing cover.At the same time,the extinguishing cover produces gas.When the curent passes zero,the arcis extinguished.
